WHEELCHAIR VAN DRIVER JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Responsible for transporting individuals who are disabled or elderly and require non-emergent transports, primarily for doctor’s appointments, treatments, etc.
    • Safely operate a wheelchair-accessible van or vehicle to transport clients.
    • Ensure that the van is properly equipped with ramps, lifts, and safety equipment to accommodate all mobility needs.
    • Provide courteous and respectful assistance to passengers, including helping them transfer from their wheelchair to the vehicle and securing them safely.
    • Assist with loading and unloading any personal belongings, medical equipment, or devices as needed.
    • Complete daily safety checks on the vehicle and report any maintenance or repair needs.
    • Maintain accurate records of all trips, including the time, location, and any incidents or issues that occurred.
    • Communicate with dispatchers or supervisors regarding any delays or changes in scheduling.

      Skills and Qualifications:

      • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
      • Prior experience in a driving or customer service role. Experience with elderly or disabled passengers is a plus.
      • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
      • Ability to operate wheelchair-accessible vans and lifts.
